I'm a native Memphian, graduating from Bartlett High School in 1972, then receiving a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1976. I obtained my law degree from Memphis State University in 1979, and have been practicing law in Memphis since 1980. I am a member of Kappa Alpha Order and currently serve as an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Christian Brothers University. In addition, I am a member of the Board of Directors of Serve Management Group, Inc., a non-profit faith-based missions service organization based in Cumming, Georgia.
My practice primarily focuses on two areas of law. One area involves commercial transactions, including commercial loan closings, review and drafting of contracts, and general corporate matters. I also serve as a closing attorney for several business brokerage firms and assist individual clients in the buying and selling of businesses.
The second area of my practice concentration is civil litigation. I am a senior trial attorney and handle a good many insurance defense cases, commercial litigation and personal injury cases. I've also served as a substitute judge both in the Probate Courts and General Sessions Courts of Shelby County.
I received my certification as a Rule 31 Listed Mediator from the Tennessee Supreme Court as a general civil mediator. In addition, I am currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alternate Dispute Resolution section of the Memphis Bar Association. I have also served as a member of the Judicial Practice and Procedure Committee of the Memphis Bar Association.
I am a member of the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, admitted to practice law in the courts of Tennessee and in the Federal Court system.
